When Daniil was invited to meet with a psychologist for testing to come to America, I did not allow my hopes to get too high because I didn't believe that such a miracle might happen to us. For Daniil to be put in a good school in America would be a dream come true, but so many other children in Russia dream of coming to America that I did not think Daniil would be chosen. When we did find out he was going, we cried tears of joy, for Daniil would have a chance to live a real life to his potential.
The mere thought of all of the colossal work done so that he may learn in the states takes my breath away. The miracle continues from the beginning until now. I often wonder why people would want to help my son, especially in a time when there is no shortage of worries and problems, but they always find time to think about my son and that is a miracle to me. I kneel down in gratitude to all who help our sons. Such assistance from other people is unheard of in Russia. All my friends say it is unbelievable how everyone helps to make this happen for Daniil. I can only be a cheerleader for Daniil, but I hope with all of my heart that we are truly worthy of these gifts.
Daniil, the one who left and the one who came back to Russia, are completely different people. He believes that everything depends on him, but that if he works hard he will be protected by a shield of faith that will help him continue to succeed. Eric (Mr. Wilson) is doing the impossible. For five years he has donated his life, time and money and worked to connect a huge number of people. Watching Eric do these things, Daniil has learned to believe that everything can be addressed and overcome if you work hard. This belief is the right thing and it has made my Daniil a better person, a person he would've never become in Russia. Daniil has gained a positive way of thinking and believes in good and lofty ideals, alien concepts to many Russians. He sees that people are fighting for him, and must also fight for himself, and in time, others. He works harder now that I ever remember before. Since seeing how Eric works on his behalf, Daniil has changed. Positive changes all around. He works with an open mind and heart, is persistent, serious when necessary, and purposeful in his endeavors.
I am forever grateful to all who make this possible for my son, Daniil. He will be not a good man, but a great man, due to your generosity and kindness.
